Frequently Asked Questions
Contact us at meadows@crosscourtpickleball.ca if you have more questions.
Q: Do I need to be a member to play at Cross Court?
A: Yes, membership is required for most activities at Cross Court, with three exceptions:
-
Members can invite a non-member guest to their court rental. The member is responsible for their guest’s conduct and must unlock the door for them. (If a guest is regularly attending court bookings then they need to become at least a Casual Member.)
-
Non-members can sign up for a 2-hour Intro to Pickleball session.
-
Non-members can substitute for a member in a league.
For a detailed description of how our memberships work see the video below:
Q: How old do you have to be to become a member?
A: Since our facilities are unstaffed, players under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Memberships must be under the parent/guardian’s name.
Q: How do I upgrade or downgrade my membership?
A: Email us at Meadows@CrossCourtPickleball.ca to make changes to your membership. You can upgrade your membership at any time. Once you purchase a membership, you must wait three months before you can downgrade or cancel it.
Q: How do I gain access to the facility?
A: After you purchase a membership you will receive an email that includes instructions on court access.
Q: Do I need to bring my own equipment?
A: Yes, you must bring your own paddle unless you're attending the 2-hour Intro to Pickleball session, where you can borrow a demo paddle. Balls are provided for drop-ins, leagues, tournaments, and lessons. For court rentals, you’ll need to bring your own balls.
Q: Do I need to fill out the activity waiver form?
A: All Members and non-members (guests) must fill out the activity waiver form before participating in any activities the first time they visit. There is a QR code for the waiver located at the courts.
Q: What type of shoes are allowed on the courts?
A: Only non-marking indoor shoes are allowed. They should be clean, dry, and free of debris (like small rocks). The facility is indoor footwear-only inside the gate.
Q: How long can I book a court for each day?
A: Members can book one court for up to two hours per day. If a player wants to play for longer or on more than one court, that’s perfectly fine—but the additional court(s) must be booked by a second member.
Q: How late can I cancel my court booking or drop-in?
A: Cancel at least 24 hours before your session to receive a credit for future use. If you cancel within 24 hours, no credit will be given.
-
Instructor-led classes may be canceled due to weather or illness. You will receive a credit or a makeup date for the basics program.
-
League sessions may be canceled due to weather, and a makeup date will be provided.
Q: I’m a beginner at Pickleball. Do you offer lessons?
A: Yes, we offer:
-
2-Hour Intro to Pickleball on Monday nights, ideal for beginners.
-
Private or semi-private lessons by request. Email us at Meadows@CrossCourtPickleball.ca to set up a session.
Q: What happens if Cross Court cancels a class?
A: Coach-led classes may be canceled due to weather or illness. You will receive a credit or a makeup date.
Q: What is a Guaranteed Booking?
A: Guaranteed Bookings are a block style booking where you get the same day and time booked each week and pay by the month. You have the option to cancel at the end of each month but once people get one they typically don't give them up. These bookings guarantee a spot for you in the winter months so keeping them through the summer months is very valuable.
If you are interested in a guaranteed booking please send us an email to Meadows@CrossCourtPickleball.ca If we cannot give you the booking you are looking for we can add you to our waitlist.
Note: If you would like a booking with more than one court the first court booked will be at your membership rate and the additional court(s) will be rung in at the Casual rate. The exception to this is if you have other members who play regularly in your booking who have a Serious or Pro membership. If that is the case we will apply that rate. Also, anyone who regularly plays during your booking needs to be at least a Casual member.
Q: How do I update my credit card on file?
A: Follow these steps:
-
Click "British Columbia" on the top menu bar
-
Click "Book a Court"
-
Click "...More" on the bottom menu bar
-
Click "Account"
-
Click "Payment Info"
-
Select card you want to update
-
Click "Edit"
-
From here you can delete the old card number and add a new one
You can have more than one card on file so note which cards are on file and delete all that you no longer want.
Q: How do I purchase a paddle?
A: Email us at Meadows@CrossCourtPickleball.ca to order a paddle.
Q: How does game rotation work for leagues?
A: We use a program called Swish. It can be found on the tablet located on the demo table. Swish will tell you who you are partnering with and who you are playing against each round. Play first to 11 win by 1. You can enter your scores into swish to track your progress. The games played on week four of your league will be sent to DUPR in order to help build and legitimize your rating. Please see the video below for a demonstration on the Swish app.
