Can you believe we’re already heading into the final weekend of August?

BRING A FRIEND TO THE COURT
Have a friend who keeps saying they want to try pickleball?
This is their sign!
Pickleball is one of those sports that can seem intimidating until you actually step onto the court. Grab a friend, book a court and show them the basics.
You don’t need to be an expert to introduce someone to the game. A paddle, a ball and a little patience are usually all it takes to create another pickleball addict!
MAKE PICKLEBALL PART OF YOUR FALL ROUTINE
September means back to school, back to work routines and, hopefully, back to regular pickleball!
If your playing schedule disappeared a little over the summer, now is a great time to start planning your weekly games again.
Whether that means joining one of our upcoming leagues, setting up a regular game with friends or simply booking whenever your schedule allows, having something active and social to look forward to each week makes those shorter fall days a little better.
PICKLEBALL TIP OF THE WEEK
Watch the ball all the way to your paddle.
It sounds simple, but it’s one of the easiest habits to lose during a fast rally. Players often start looking toward where they want the ball to go before they’ve actually made contact.
Keeping your eyes on the ball through contact can help improve consistency and reduce those frustrating mishits.
DID YOU KNOW?
The kitchen’s official name is the Non-Volley Zone.
The area extends seven feet from the net on both sides of the court and prevents players from volleying while standing inside it.
But let’s be honest, “stay out of the kitchen!” is a lot more fun to yell.
YOUR WEEKLY GAME, ALREADY BOOKED
If your group plays at the same time every week, a Guaranteed Court Booking can make things much easier.
Instead of remembering to book every week, your regular day and court time can be reserved for your group.
It’s a simple way to keep your weekly pickleball routine consistent as we head into the busier indoor season.

A LITTLE COURT ETIQUETTE GOES A LONG WAY
As the facility gets busier this fall, a few small things can help keep everything running smoothly.
Please be ready to begin when your booking starts and finish your game on time for the next group. Remember to collect your belongings, return any borrowed equipment and leave the court area ready for the players coming in after you.
And whether it’s a competitive game or a casual one, good sportsmanship always matters. We want The Meadows to be a place where people enjoy both the pickleball and the people they play it with.
NEED A FUN GROUP ACTIVITY?
Pickleball makes a great option for groups looking to do something a little different together.
The Meadows can host corporate events, staff outings, birthday celebrations, community groups, sports teams, family gatherings and private pickleball events.
Players don’t need to be experienced to have a great time.
For more information about group events, email meadows@crosscourtpickleball.ca.
BOOK YOUR COURT
Ready to play?
Courts at The Meadows can be booked through Mindbody. Grab your paddle, round up your group and get your next game on the calendar.
With fall approaching and more players moving back indoors, booking ahead is always a good idea.
THANK YOU!
Thank you to everyone who continues to play, book, participate and support Cross Court Pickleball – The Meadows.
We’re looking forward to a busy September and an even busier fall. There’s lots happening behind the scenes, and we’re excited to share more with you soon.
Enjoy the final weekend of August, and we’ll see you on the courts!
