FALL IS FILLING UP AT THE MEADOWS!

We’re officially into the second half of September, and fall pickleball is picking up!

As everyone settles back into regular routines, we’re seeing more familiar faces returning to the courts and more groups getting their weekly games back on the calendar.

If pickleball disappeared from your schedule a little over the summer, now is the perfect time to get back into it!

Here’s what’s happening around The Meadows this week.

COURT MAINTENANCE COMING UP!

We’ll be completing some important court maintenance and improvements from September 26 through October 1.

During this time, we’ll be resurfacing the courts and making adjustments to the lighting to help improve the overall playing experience at the facility.

The courts will be blocked off and unavailable for play while this work is being completed, so please keep these dates in mind when planning your pickleball.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while we get the work done and can’t wait to have you back on the refreshed courts!

FALL LEAGUES ARE COMING!

We know many of you have been waiting for league information, and we’re getting closer!

Our fall leagues are being organized now, with options designed to give players consistent weekly games against others around their level.

Leagues are perfect if you love the social side of pickleball but don’t necessarily want the hassle of finding three other people and organizing a game every week.

Watch for the full schedule and registration details coming soon!

DROP-IN PICKLEBALL IS BACK!

Looking for a game but don’t have a group to play with? Our organized Drop-In sessions make it easy to get on the court and meet other players around your level.

We currently have three levels available at The Meadows:

Beginners Drop-In (NR–3.0)

Thursdays | 9:00–11:00 AM

A great option for newer and developing players looking for fun, organized games in a welcoming environment.

Intermediate Drop-In (3.0–3.5)

Saturdays | 9:00–11:00 AM

For intermediate players looking for consistent games with others at a similar level.

Advanced Drop-In (3.5+)

Saturdays | 11:00 AM–1:00 PM

For experienced players looking for faster-paced, competitive games.

You don’t need to organize a group. Just register for the session that matches your level and come ready to play!

Spots are limited, so register early to secure yours.

GET OUT OF YOUR PICKLEBALL COMFORT ZONE

It’s easy to fall into the habit of playing with the same three or four people every week.

This week, challenge yourself to mix it up!

Playing against different styles can expose parts of your game you don’t notice when you’re always playing the same opponents.

Some players hit hard. Some slow everything down. Some lob. Some dink forever. And some seem determined to make you hit one more ball every single rally.

Learning how to adjust is part of becoming a better player!

PICKLEBALL TIP OF THE WEEK

Stop trying to win every point with one shot.

One of the biggest differences between newer players and more experienced players is patience.

You don’t need to hit a winner every time the ball comes to you.

Sometimes the best shot is simply one that keeps your opponents from attacking and gives your team another opportunity to improve your position.

Build the point, wait for the right ball and then attack.

A little patience can go a long way!

HAVE YOU BOOKED YOUR WEEKEND GAME YET?

Weekend court times can disappear quickly, especially once everyone starts moving their games back indoors.

If your group is hoping to play this weekend, take a look at the schedule now and get your court booked.

And remember, all bookings are made through the MINDBODY app or directly through the Cross Court Pickleball website.

GUARANTEE YOUR FAVOURITE COURT TIME

Have a group that plays every week at the same time?

Instead of racing to book your court each week, consider setting up a Guaranteed Court Booking.

Your group gets the same day and time each week, making it much easier to keep your regular pickleball night on the calendar.

Guaranteed bookings become especially valuable as we head further into the indoor season.

PICKLEBALL CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK

Here’s something to try during your next game:

See how many points you can play without attacking a ball that is below net height.

It sounds simple, but it’s harder than you think!

Instead of forcing an attack from a bad position, reset the ball, dink or play something controlled and wait for a better opportunity.

Try it for one game and see how much it changes your decision-making.

A QUICK COURT REMINDER

Please remember that your booking includes only the time shown on your reservation.

If another group is booked immediately after you, games should finish and the court should be cleared by the end of your booked time.

Packing up paddles, balls, bags and other belongings promptly helps the next group start on time and keeps the schedule running smoothly for everyone.

Thank you for being considerate of the players coming on after you!

WHO ARE YOU BRINGING TO THE COURT THIS FALL?

Pickleball is always better with more people!

If you have a friend, neighbour, coworker or family member who keeps saying they want to try it, this is your sign to finally get them on the court.

You never know. A few games from now, they might be the one texting you asking when you’re playing next!

SEE YOU ON THE COURTS!

Thank you for another great week at Cross Court Pickleball – The Meadows.

We’re excited for everything coming this fall and can’t wait to see the courts getting busier as everyone settles back into their indoor pickleball routines.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page and upcoming newsletters for league announcements and more fall programming.

See you on the courts!
