CROSS COURT PICKLEBALL – THE MEADOWSWEEKLY NEWSLETTER | SEPTEMBER 24, 2026

THE COURTS ARE ABOUT TO GET A REFRESH!
It’s officially fall, and we have lots happening at The Meadows as we head into the indoor season!
This week is a little different because our scheduled court maintenance begins this weekend. We also have fall programming on the way, weekly Drop-Ins to get back to after the closure, and plenty to look forward to in October.
Here’s what you need to know this week!
COURT CLOSURE STARTS THIS SATURDAY
A reminder that The Meadows courts will be unavailable from September 26 through October 1 while we complete some important improvements.
We’ll be resurfacing the courts and making adjustments to the lighting to help improve the overall playing experience.
Please make sure you keep the closure in mind when planning your games over the next week.
We know nobody likes missing their pickleball time, but we think it’ll be worth it!
We appreciate your patience and look forward to welcoming everyone back onto the refreshed courts once the work is complete.
OCTOBER IS ALMOST HERE!
Once the maintenance is finished, we’ll be heading straight into October and the start of the busier indoor pickleball season.
If you had a regular group last fall or winter, now is a great time to start getting everyone organized again.
Court times will become more popular as the weather changes, so don’t wait until the last minute to get your games on the calendar.
Bookings can be made through the MINDBODY app or through the Cross Court Pickleball website.
FALL LEAGUES – STAY TUNED!
We know everyone is eager to hear more about fall leagues at The Meadows.
We’re working on getting the schedule finalized and will share all the details as soon as registration is ready to open.
Our leagues are a great way to guarantee yourself regular weekly pickleball without having to organize your own group every week.
Keep an eye on your inbox and our Facebook page. League information is coming!

PICKLEBALL TIP OF THE WEEK
Get to the kitchen line, but don’t rush getting there.
You’ll often hear players say you need to get to the kitchen as quickly as possible.
That’s true, but only when you have the right opportunity.
If your partner or opponent hits a ball that forces you to stay back, don’t sprint forward just because you think you’re supposed to be at the kitchen.
Move forward when your shot gives you the opportunity. Stop and get balanced before your opponent makes contact, then continue moving when it’s safe to do so.
Getting to the kitchen matters.
Getting there under control matters even more.
ARE YOU PLAYING WITH THE RIGHT LEVEL?
One of the best ways to have enjoyable pickleball is to play with people around your own skill level.
That’s why our Drop-Ins and upcoming leagues are separated by rating.
If you’re unsure where you fit, don’t automatically jump into the highest level you think you can handle.
Playing at the appropriate level creates longer rallies, more competitive games and a better experience for everyone on the court.
As your game improves, you can always move up!
WANT THE SAME COURT EVERY WEEK?
As we head into the busiest months of the year, our Guaranteed Court Bookings are a great option for regular groups.
Instead of remembering to book every week, you can secure the same court, day and time for your group each week.
No scrambling for court availability. No group chat asking who remembered to book.
Just show up and play!

PICKLEBALL CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK
This week’s challenge is all about your third shot.
During your next few games, forget about whether you win or lose the point and pay attention to what happens after your return of serve.
Are you automatically driving every third shot?
Try mixing in more drops.
Give yourself a goal of hitting at least five third-shot drops during a game and see how many allow you and your partner to move forward toward the kitchen.
You might be surprised how much easier the point becomes when you don’t try to blast your way through it!
BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE COURT
A quick reminder to please take a look around before leaving the facility.
Paddles, water bottles, sweaters and other belongings have a funny way of getting left behind after a good game!
Taking an extra few seconds to check your court and seating area helps keep the facility tidy and saves you a return trip later.
WHO’S READY FOR OCTOBER PICKLEBALL?
Fall is here, the courts are getting refreshed and our indoor season is just getting started.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone back on the courts after the maintenance closure and have lots more coming as we move into October.
Watch for updates on fall leagues, programming and everything else happening at The Meadows.
See you on the refreshed courts!
