CROSS COURT PICKLEBALL – THE MEADOWSWEEKLY NEWSLETTER | OCTOBER 22, 2026

FALL PICKLEBALL IS HEATING UP AT THE MEADOWS!
October is flying by, and we’re heading into one of the best times of the year for indoor pickleball!
With cooler temperatures, shorter days and more people looking for ways to stay active, there’s no better time to get back into a regular pickleball routine.
Whether you’re joining us for drop-ins, booking courts with friends, working on your skills or introducing someone new to the sport, we’re excited to see our Meadows community continue to grow!
We’ve got a few important reminders, some opportunities to get involved and a new pickleball challenge for you this week!
IMPORTANT REMINDER – PRICING CHANGES NOVEMBER 1
As announced last week, our updated court rental and drop-in pricing will take effect November 1, 2026.

LOOKING FOR MORE GAMES? JOIN A DROP-IN!
Not everyone has a regular group of four players, and that’s exactly why we offer drop-in pickleball!
Drop-ins are a great way to get more court time, meet new players and enjoy games without having to organize everything yourself.

WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR GAME? DON’T JUST PLAY – PRACTICE!
We all love a good competitive pickleball game.
But if you’re looking to improve your consistency, confidence and overall skill level, sometimes the biggest improvements happen outside of regular games.
It’s easy to fall into the habit of showing up, playing two hours of games and heading home.
While that’s great exercise and lots of fun, dedicated practice can make a huge difference!
Consider spending some time working on:
SERVE CONSISTENCY
Focus on getting your serves deep and keeping them in play.
THIRD SHOT DROPS
Practice controlling the ball from the baseline and landing it softly in the kitchen.
DINKING
Work on patience, placement and keeping the ball low.
COURT POSITIONING
Pay attention to where you’re standing and how you move with your partner.
Even 15–20 minutes of focused practice can help develop better habits.
And remember, improvement doesn’t always mean hitting the ball harder. Sometimes it’s about making fewer mistakes!
INTRO TO PICKLEBALL – BRING SOMEONE NEW!
Do you have a friend who keeps talking about trying pickleball but hasn’t made it onto a court yet?
Maybe they’re nervous about not knowing the rules, worried about keeping up or simply don’t know where to begin.
That’s exactly what our Intro to Pickleball sessions are for!
THE MEADOWS – INTRO TO PICKLEBALL
Wednesdays | 6:00–8:00 PM
These sessions are designed for people who have never played before or have very little experience.
Participants learn the basics of pickleball, including serving, scoring, rules and court positioning, in a welcoming environment.
No previous experience is necessary!
If pickleball has become part of your weekly routine, why not introduce someone else to the game?
Encourage them to register through MINDBODY or HERE!
DO YOU PLAY AT THE SAME TIME EVERY WEEK?
We know how much work can go into organizing a regular pickleball group.
Finding four players, checking everyone’s schedules and making sure there’s a court available can sometimes feel like a full-time job!
That’s why we offer Guaranteed Court Bookings.
If you have a group that enjoys playing at the same time each week, a guaranteed booking can make things much easier.
Instead of organizing a new court reservation every week, you can have a consistent time reserved for your group, subject to availability.
It’s a great option for friends, families and regular doubles groups who want to make pickleball part of their weekly routine.

PICKLEBALL TIP OF THE WEEK: STOP TRYING TO WIN EVERY POINT WITH ONE SHOT!
We’ve all been there.
You get a ball that looks attackable, take a huge swing and send it straight into the net or out the back of the court.
Sometimes the excitement of hitting a winner gets the better of us!
But one of the biggest differences between developing players and more experienced players is knowing when to attack and when to stay patient.
Not every ball needs to be a winner.
1. BE PATIENT
If the ball is low, don’t force an attack. A controlled reset or dink may be the better option.
2. WAIT FOR THE RIGHT BALL
A ball sitting high above the net is a much better opportunity to attack than one down at your feet.
3. KEEP YOUR OPPONENTS WORKING
Sometimes making your opponents hit one more ball is all it takes to win the rally.
The goal isn’t to hit the hardest shot.
It’s to make the smartest shot!
PICKLEBALL CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: THE 10-SHOT RALLY!
This week’s challenge is about something every player can benefit from.
Consistency!
During your next game, challenge yourself and your partner to build longer rallies.
Instead of trying to end the point as quickly as possible, focus on keeping the ball in play.
See how many times you can get into rallies with 10 or more shots!
Pay attention to what happens when you slow things down, choose safer targets and make your opponents work for every point.
You might discover that you win more rallies simply by making fewer unforced errors.
And if you’re practicing with a partner, try keeping a controlled rally going for 20, 30 or even 50 consecutive shots!
A FRIENDLY REMINDER – 24-HOUR CANCELLATION POLICY
As we head into the busier indoor season, we’d like to remind everyone of our 24-hour cancellation policy.
We understand that plans change, but cancelling with enough notice allows other members to book courts or take available spots in programs.
If you know you won’t be able to attend your booking, please cancel as early as possible.
A little consideration goes a long way in helping everyone enjoy more court time!
HELP US KEEP GROWING THE MEADOWS COMMUNITY!
One of the best parts of pickleball is the people you meet along the way.
Whether you’ve been playing for years or recently picked up a paddle for the first time, there’s always an opportunity to meet someone new.
As we continue growing our programs at The Meadows, word of mouth remains one of the best ways to introduce new players to our facility.
If you’re enjoying your experience at Cross Court, we’d love for you to spread the word!
Invite a friend to try pickleball, encourage someone to join a drop-in or tell your regular group about our court rentals.
The more players we bring together, the more opportunities we can create for everyone!
SEE YOU ON THE COURTS! 💙
As we head into the final week of October, we’re looking forward to another great week of pickleball at The Meadows!
We’re continuing to review league interest, look for ways to expand our programming and create more opportunities for players of all levels.
Don’t forget that our updated court rental and drop-in pricing begins November 1.
Thank you for being part of our growing Cross Court community and for continuing to support The Meadows.
Have a fantastic week, enjoy your games and we’ll see you on the courts!
